Business Development Manager

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to grow the business to OEM’s within Industrial & Heavy Plant Machinery markets both in the UK and throughout Europe to help drive our continued annual growth.

We operate internationally in a Business to Business environment in Marine and Industrial markets. Customers include Sunseeker, Volvo Penta, and Seekeeper and we need your help to identify and gain more customers like these.

You will be able to demonstrate your experience of sales and business development with commercial knowledge of dealing with Customer Decision Makers across a range of industry sectors. The ideal Business Development Manager will have an understanding of selling mechanical or electronics equipment to Industrial customers.

This is a varied and dynamic role so you will be:

  • Self-driving & working collaboratively researching, targeting new opportunities using tools such as LinkedIn
  • Using your established contact network to sell our products and solutions
  • Contacting prospects, capturing requirements including technical specifications
  • Creating professional & accurate sales proposals
  • Meeting and presenting products to new prospects and upselling to existing customers
  • Assisting with UK and International exhibitions

We would expect you to:

  • Have experience of Business Development and a strong commercial awareness
  • Be comfortable presenting and communicating with key decision makers
  • Have good written and spoken English
  • Have good MS Office skills, including Word & Excel
  • Be adaptable, looking for a challenge and able to self-drive

The ideal person would also:

  • Be motivated by achieving targets and driving business growth
  • Have a technical sales background
  • Be familiar with a CRM such as Zoho

Technical Sales Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to advance and develop enquiries from initial request to purchase order.

You will be responsible for understanding clients specifications and interfacing with Engineering and the client to grow business to OEM’s within Industrial & Heavy Plant Machinery markets both in the UK and throughout Europe to help drive our continued annual growth.

You will be able to demonstrate your experience of sales and technical competence with commercial knowledge of dealing with Customer Decision Makers across a range of industry sectors. The ideal Technical Sales Engineer will have an understanding of selling mechanical or electronics equipment to Industrial customers.

Software Engineer – Embedded uC

Due to the recent growth of the company we are seeking to appoint a new role of Software Engineer at our offices in Upton, Poole. You will be a key member of the software team and will contribute to the development of the next generation of connected industrial and marine products. The company is a fast moving, forward thinking software organisation that has a dynamic team that provide bespoke software and product applications to its clients.

Accountabilities

• Design, development and support of embedded software and communication protocols.
• Development of tools to support embedded software product development.
• Development of testing and validation strategies.
• Maintenance and improvement of software for existing products.
• Administration and maintenance of supporting infrastructure for software development.
• Integration of software with hardware.

Skills & Experience

We are seeking recent examples of the below points:
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience of developing real-time embedded products.
• Excellent C and C++ skills
• Experience of RTOS and/or embedded OS e.g. FreeRTOS, RTX, Linux etc.
• Exposure to one or more of the following: WiFi (802.11), Bluetooth LE (V4.x or V5), MQTT, COAP
• Experience of Cortex-M or ESP32 microcontrollers desirable
• Experience of Embedded Linux on ARM (i.MX6) desirable
• Knowledge of UML
• Exposure to good SCM practices with git and svn.
• Exposure to IoT applications and/or mobile app development desirable but not essential.
• Excellent communicator, written, verbal and electronically with experience interfacing with clients.
• The ideal candidate will have experience of both developing and implementing to specifications.

Hardware Engineer

This is an extremely exciting opportunity to spearhead the introduction of electronic design in the UK with support from our sister company in the USA.

Working within a cross functional team, the role will be to design and develop products for use in in a variety of display applications for control, monitoring and expanding our connected capability through telematics and IoT.

Accountabilities
• Develop and design hardware solutions to meet the required specification.
• Create schematic designs and PCB layout for complex SoC based systems.
• Design optimisation for performance, manufacturability and cost.
• Conform and maintain company’s engineering design rules, development guidelines and the product development process.
• Ensure that development work adheres to the requirements of project design specifications and other supporting documentation.
• Play an active role in projects, team meetings etc. Liaise with other cross functional team members, suppliers and other interested parties throughout projects and encourage their involvement and participation.
• Develop test plans to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Participate and where necessary lead design reviews, communicate ideas and solutions, influence decisions and problem solving.
• Test, validate and document design solutions ensuring they are robust and reliable by using relevant tools and techniques and evaluate outcomes and act as required.
• Support the creation and maintenance of technical files as new products are designed, or existing products are changed.
• Have a detailed and thorough understanding of our own products, and proactively seek to learn about competitors’ products.
• Provide technical support to other areas of the business when required.
• Design and develop new products and product improvements, balancing innovative engineering design, functional requirements and aesthetic appeal with product usability, cost effectiveness, ease of manufacture, installation and maintainability.
• Assist the commercial team in creating quotations for potential new projects.

Skills & Experience
We are seeking recent examples of the below points:
• At least 5 years’ industry experience in electronic hardware and / or system design.
• Degree educated in electronic design (or related) or long track record in related field.
• Demonstrable experience of developing embedded single board computers, ideally with NXP i.MX family processors.
• Experience with smaller microcontroller systems based systems ideally using STM32 or similar devices.
• Experience of EMC emission control techniques.
• Experience in circuit design using Altium Designer.
• Experience of board bring up with ability to debug new and existing hardware to component level and resolve problems.
• Digital and Analogue design experience to support sensor integration
• ‘Self-starter’ capable of working with minimal guidance and solving problems using available resources.
• Ability to understand software and hardware integration requirements.

Desired Attributes
• Capable of producing well thought out, maintainable and readable schematic designs.
• Experience in designing for EMC compliance.
• Ability to review hardware designs and provide constructive feedback across a global team.
• Ability to work closely with embedded software team.
• Confident in the use of oscilloscopes and test equipment
• Experience of CAN bus protocol.
• Experience in working within an ISO9001 environment.
• Some experience of radio data communication and associated approval processes.
• Knowledge of working to functional electrical standards concepts (IEC 60495, 61508 / ISO 26262 etc).
